Yvette at East Hamilton Cheese Co., on Ottawa Street, is now carrying Dear Grain bread on Saturdays to accompany her selection of local cheeses. Anyone familiar with the bread from the Ottawa Street Farmers’ Market will know how scrumptious it is.

What: Beautiful Alleys Cleanup has become a biannual grassroots ritual. Every Spring and Fall volunteer teams of Hamilton residents participate in an organized alley cleanup day to create and maintain safe and beautiful green spaces in Hamilton’s alleys and laneways. Since 2015 and before Beautiful Alleys volunteers have removed literally thousands of bags of trash that
clutter the landscape. They’ve sorted recyclables, and bagged tons of yard waste to be used for compost. Beautiful Alleys received a 2016 Hamilton Environmentalists of the Year Award of Merit and a Community Builder Award. Beautiful Alleys is supported by several community sponsors and funders, including the City of Hamilton Keep Hamilton Clean and Green. Truly a
social, environmental, and beautification project combined!
When: Saturday September 28, 2019, from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm for the cleanup, then at 1:00 pm, volunteers are invited for the volunteer celebration and lunch at Powell Park.
Where: Cleanup is throughout the city. Meet at Powell Park (Birch Avenue between Cannon and Barton) any time from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm for directions to alley locations.
